Panthers Drop Pair of Weekend Doubleheaders

Bellerose, NY | The Panthers were unable to pick up a win on Saturday against the region-leading Nassau Lions. With the doubleheader loss, BMCC drops to 2-7 in the region, but will have a shot at redemption when Nassau comes to Preller Field later this season.

In the doubleheader against Middlesex County College, the Panthers were stymied by the Colts pitching staff. Middlesex pitchers allowed 6 or fewer hits in both of Sunday's games, to limit the Panthers to 2 runs per game. Darwin Nivar led the team with three hits, including a solo shot in the 5th inning for his 2nd home run of the season. Joseph Felix and Justin Perez both picked up two hits while driving in a run today.

The Panthers will be back in action on the 19th when they travel to Brooklyn to take on Kingsborough CC. Tuesday's game will be the first in a four game series against the Wave. With 6 games remaining on their conference schedule, next week will be a critical stretch for the Panthers as they look to secure a spot in the CUNY Championship game.
