Bellerose, NY Â |Â After a tough stretch of games against non-region opponents, BMCC baseball continues to look for their first win of the season.
The Panthers could not get runners in scoring position in a loss against the Ulster Senators on Wednesday. BMCC could not figure out Ulster's pitching until the final inning when Jason Villanova got on board with a walk and came around to score on a
Gregory Ortiz single.
BMCC took on Globe IT in a doubleheader for the second time this season on Friday. Following a 10-1 loss in the first half of the doubleheader, the Panthers managed to keep the second game close before a late-inning rally by the Globe pushed the Knights to victory. After allowing 4 runs in the first, the Panthers responded with a pair of doubles from
Justin Perez and
Rafael Ballenilla that drove in 3 runs in the second inning. But this would be all the offense the Panthers could muster, as they fell by a final score of 9-3.
In the final doubleheader of the week, BMCC travelled to Pennsylvania to take on the Falcons of Lackawanna College. Despite 4 strikeouts over the span of 3 shutout innings from starting pitcher
Jeremy Aponte to begin the game, the Panthers could not figure out the Falcons pitching as they dropped both games of the doubleheader by a wide margin.
The baseball team will have two more games this week before they begin their Region XV schedule next Tuesday the 29
th with a game against the Bronx Broncos.
