Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | By Dakota Olson (BMCC Sports Information)

Panthers Win 7-1 to Ground High-Flying Falcons

New York, NY  |  The men's soccer team faced off against the Dutchess Falcons on Wednesday night, the Panthers were looking for their 6th win in the past 7 matches against Region 15 teams. The Falcons were coming off an 8-0 victory over the Kingsborough Wave, but it would be all BMCC from the start as the Panthers ran away with a 7-1 blowout victory with six different players scoring goals.

In the scoring frenzy, the Panthers recorded a season high16 shots on goal, while the defense held the Falcons to 8 total shots. After 7 minutes of play Mujibu Adejemo broke the deadlock with a goal off of a Daouda Coulibaly pass. Following a shot deflected by the Dutchess keeper, Daniel Munoz lined up for a corner kick and found Dazougou Pacode on a header for his second goal of the season. Moments later, a Falcons forward ripped a shot that came within inches of the goal before Pacode made another stellar play to clear the ball out to midfield.

Freshman forward Aboubacar Keita led the Panthers with a team-high two goals in tonight's match, coming off of assists from Marcus Folkes and Jovany Mendez. Sophomore Adama Coulibaly made the most of his minutes as he found the back of the net just moments after coming off the bench as a substitute.

The final two goals of the night came in similar fashion from midfielders Eric Poku and Betsaleel Merise. Poku's came after a pass from Peter Ceesay found him open in space outside of the box to set him up for a long range goal which he capped off with an acrobatic celebration. Merise came on as a substitute in the final 10 minutes, but it would be more than enough time for the freshman to take a pass from Christopher Toledo and bury it into the back of the net.

Following today's victory, the Panthers will have 2 regular season games remaining on their schedule. They will be back in action on Saturday morning when they take on Westchester Community College at 11 am.

Stay tuned for more stats from tonight's action.
