Bronx won both games of a conference doubleheader on SaturdayBMCC generated only four hits in a 12-4 loss

BROOKLYN, NY | The Borough of Manhattan Community College baseball team were defeated by Bronx Community College 12-4 in the first game of a four-game series at Ohio Field in the Bronx. With the loss, the Panthers fall to 2-21 (1-8 CUNYAC) on the season while Bronx improves to 9-10 (7-2 CUNYAC).

The Broncos got going early, scoring three runs in the first inning courtesy of a Andres Ortera double and a Edwin Hidalgo sac fly. The Panthers responded by scoring two runs in the second when outfielders Jason Villalona and Gerson Perez scored runners in consecutive at bats.

The Panthers went on to take the lead (4-3) in the top of the third when first baseman Kenny Berihuete's double scored catcher Wilson Aristy and second baseman Reginald German, but Bronx countered with force, scoring five runs in the bottom of the third before two more in both the fifth and seventh innings.

Christopher Garcia (0-3) struck out two, allowed eight runs and took the loss for the Panthers. Miguel Salas, Divine Hawkins and Camilo Pena all provided relief.

Berihuete batted 2-2 and scored two of the Panthers' four runs with his double in the second inning. German was 1-2 and Villalona was 1-3 with one RBI.

BMCC and Bronx continue their series on Friday, April 24 at 4:00 PM at Ohio Field before wrapping it up with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 25 at 12:00 PM at Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn.
