#3 BMCC Men’s Basketball Claims Regional Quarterfinal Win Over Rockland

The Panthers will face Bronx in the semis on Saturday

SELDEN, NY| The #3 Borough of Manhattan Community College men's basketball team defeated the Rockland Community College 81-69 in the NJCAA Region XV D-III quarterfinal on Friday evening at Suffolk County Community College in Selden, NY. The Panthers will face Bronx Community College in the semifinal in a rematch of the CUNYAC Final on Saturday at 7:15, also in Selden, NY.

After grabbing the early lead, BMCC headed into halftime up 44-29. But Rockland fired back in the second frame, scoring the first 10 points to cut the lead to just five at 16:43. After trading points for the next 13 minutes, BMCC pulled ahead 70-63 at 3:40 and cruised to victory thereafter.

CUNYAC Player of the Year Kenneth Coar shot 11-16 from the floor and scored a team-high 23 points in addition to grabbing 14 boards. Justin Manon sunk three three-pointers and scored 17 points. Captain Joseph Ojo had nine points and Akeem Williams went for eight points, six rebounds and three blocks.

Saturday's semifinal will take place at Suffolk County Community College's Ammerman Campus in Selden, NY. Directions can be found here. The game will also be streamed live here.
