Middletown, NY | Over the weekend, the Panthers swept a weekend double-duel, something which they had not accomplished up to this point the season. The two victories against Orange and Sullivan County came at an important time as the team attempts to make a late-season playoff push. Following their performance this week, BMCC is now on-the-bubble for qualifying for the Region XV tournament.
In their first match against Orange County, neither team could pull away, with three of the four matches being decided by 2 points. Team Captain
Jennifer Santos led the way with 8 kills and 7 aces, with freshman
Kayshawna Richardson striking for 14 kills and blocking 2 attempts.
Kaina Bazard set her teammates up with 20 assists, it was the 4
th time this season the sophomore has recorded 20 or more assists in a match. The Panthers played well as a team, limiting themselves to just 5 errors while maintaining an attack percentage near 40% for the entire match.
Santos continued to confuse opponents with her serve throughout the day, the sophomore recorded another 11 in the second match to bring her season total to 80. Richardson and Santos paved the way to the win with 9 kills apiece. Once again, limiting errors (3) and a .407 attacking percentage was the key to victory for the Panthers.
The Lady Panthers will return to action this Thursday when they take on the region-leading FIT Tigers. Come on out to the Dubinsky Gymnasium located at the corner of Eighth Ave and 27
th Street to support your BMCC Panthers. The match will begin at 7pm.
