NEW YORK, NY | The Borough of Manhattan Community College women's volleyball team were defeated 3-0 by both Queensborough Community College and Hostos Community College Saturday afternoon inside BMCC Gym. With the loss, the Panthers fall to 1-4 on the season and 1-3 in CUNYAC play.
QCC won sets one and three 25-10, but BMCC gave the Tigers a run for it in the second set, losing 25-20.
Jennifer Santos (Bronx, NY) had a team-high four kills and added nine digs and two aces.
Jhoanna Castro (Bronx, NY) led BMCC in digs with 12, while
Alioscak Adames (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) racked up eight assists.
Game two against Hostos saw the visitors win 25-8, 25-9 and 25-21. Set three was nervy, as BMCC had led 19-18, but the Caimans scored the crucial points down the stretch and handed the hosts their second loss of the afternoon.
Santos again was the Panthers' leader in kills with four, while
Tania Mejia (Bronx, NY) led in service aces (4) and blocks (1).
Kaina Bazard (East New York, NY) collected six assists and Castro dug out a team-high six balls.
For Hostos, Seyma Soylu had a game-high nine kills and Mayorin Trinidad led all players with 21 assists.
Kingsborough Community College is up next for the Panthers, and the two sides will meet on Thursday, September 25 in Brooklyn, NY. Game time is set for 7 PM.
