NEW YORK, NY| The Borough of Manhattan Community College women's volleyball team lost its home-opener on Thursday night to the Fashion Institute of Technology 3-0 in a NJCAA Region XV matchup. The Panthers are now 1-2 on the season and remain 1-1 in CUNYAC play. FIT grabbed an early 14-3 lead in the first set before cruising to 25-8 victory. BMCC pushed back in the second set, coming as close as one point (7-8) but ultimately conceded the set's final 11 points before losing 25-11.
The Panthers saved their best effort for the third frame, and even tied the score at 11, but FIT proved too potent of an attacking side, and eventually won the final set 25-13.
Wai Shan Chan led BMCC in digs (4) and assists (2) and Jennifer Santos served up a team-high three aces. FIT's Jenna Dickey had a game-high eight kills.
Up next for the Panthers are Queensborough Community College and Hostos Community College. BMCC will play host to both on Saturday, September 20 inside BMCC Gym. The match with QCC is set to start at 12 PM and the Hostos showdown will kickoff at 1:15 PM.
