Men's Soccer Loses on Road to Suffolk

The 3-0 defeat was the Panthers' first of the season

SELDEN, NY| The Borough of Manhattan Community College men's soccer was handed its first loss of the season Wednesday afternoon when they dropped a 3-0 decision to Suffolk County Community College in Selden, NY. With the loss, the Panthers fall to 1-1 on the season, while Suffolk improves to 5-3.

Suffolk's attack came early and often. The Sharks' first goal came on the 11th minute off the foot of Keith Marro, and thanks to Josh Zapata's 43rd minute goal, Suffolk headed into halftime with a two-goal lead.

Suffolk pushed again early in the second half, but didn't score its final goal until the 78th minute, when Marro struck again from inside the box.

In all Suffolk fired 21 shots toward BMCC's goal, while the Panthers managed just four. Starting keeper Melvin Lopez made three saves, and substitute keeper Daniel Buritica made one save in his BMCC debut.

Defenders Nicholas Sirena and Randy Zacarias played the entire 90 minutes and both put in strong performances despite the loss.
