The BMCC Panthers split a weekend series with Kingsborough Community College on Saturday. The Panthers won the first game 14-2 behind strong pitching and clutch hitting but lost the second game 14-7.
Freshman
Eric Gonzalez went 4-for-5 with 3 RBI and scored a run and RF
Rodney Newell went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI and two runs scored. The Panthers also got contributions from the top-3 hitters in the lineup, CF
Darlin Veloz, LF
Matt Alvarado and SS
Daniel Mota. They combined to score eight runs and drive in four.
In the second game, Veloz and Mota continued the hot hitting each getting another two hits and driving in two and one run, respectively. DH
Wilson Aristey also had two RBI to go with his two hits.
The Panthers wrapped up their season series versus Kingsborough with a record of 1-3. Currently, BMCC is in 2nd place in CUNY with four games series remaining against Queensborough CC and Bronx CC.
