New York, New York - The BMCC Lady Panthers won the 7th CUNYAC/Con Edison Championship in school history Friday night by defeating the Hostos Caimans 57-53.

The Lady Panthers dominated the 1st half holding the Lady Caimans to 18% shooting from the field en route to a 33-15 lead. The beginning of the 2nd half saw the Lady Panthers maintain tight defensive pressure led Tournament MVP Gabrielle Alleyne (Brooklyn, NY), who controlled the game on both ends of the floor with a game-high 18 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks.

The Lady Caimans would not go away quietly. The Lady Panthers led by 13 with 5:26 remaining and within a matter of minutes the Caimans went on an 18-2 run to cut the lead to 52-50 with 2:27 remaining. From that point on the Lady Panthers regained their defensive prowess and made free throws down the stretch to secure the victory.

Tournament All-Star selection Aiyana Harris (Brooklyn, NY) chipped in with 11 points, Ashley Coffee had nine points and six assists and freshman Elesha Dieudonne (Brooklyn, NY), the 7th leading rebounder in the country, continued her dominance on the glass with 16 rebounds.
