Panthers Blast Broncos

New York, New York - The BMCC Panthers took the field on a six-game unbeaten streak looking to clinch the regular season CUNY Championship vs. the Broncos of Bronx Community College.

The Panthers applied pressure to the Broncos from the beginning as they just missed an opening minute goal as Klaudio Shala (Lezhe, Albania) missed from 15 yards away. The Panthers remained aggressive the remainder of the half, putting eight shots on goal, including three from Bassem Alnagar (Brooklyn, NY) and two from Kevin Romero (El Salvador). With the Panther's strong defensive play, they went into the half tied at 0.

The second half was a complete reversal for the Panther's offense. The Panthers seized every opportunity placing seven shots on goal, including scoring on their first four shots of the half. Guadalupe Guzman scored the first goal of the game in the 54th minute on a penalty kick. Less than 2 minutes later, Klaudio Shala found Yao Mbeou (Lome, Togo) cutting to the box for the Panther's second goal of the game and a 2-0 Panthers lead.  BMCC did not let up at all and push the lead to 4-0 with unassisted goals from Kevin Romero and Anton Wesener (Italy) in in the 60th and 68th minute, respectively. The Panthers put the game on ice when Yao Mbeoure turned the favor to Klaudio Shala for a 70th minute goal and a commanding 5-0 lead. The Bronx was able to score a late goal however, the Panthers finished the game with a 5-1 victory. With the win the Panthers improve their record to (7-1-1 overall, 3-0-1 in conference) and secures a place for itself in the CUNY Championship game.

The Panthers return to the pitch on October 10th, under the lights, at 6:25 p.m. in a Region XV match-up vs. Dutchess Community College.
