New York, New York - The BMCC Panthers (9-1-1 overall, 3-0-1 conference) finished off their regular season play with a 5-3 victory over the Vikings of Westchester Community College. The Panthers jumped out to an early lead when Klaudio Shala (Lezhe, Albania) was able to cross the ball through box and past the goalkeeper for a Panthers 1-0 lead just 3:59 into play. BMCC kept the pressure applied to the Vikings and were able to push across their second goal of the game when Anton Wesener (Italy) found Mohamed Abdo (Brooklyn, NY) in the 39th minute for a 2-0 lead. Just before the first half ended the Vikings were awarded a penalty kick and Freshman Andre Fonseca of the Vikings made it count as he was able to strike the ball past Irvin Barreto for his first goal of the game and cut the deficit to 2-1 heading into the half. In the 49th minute, Klaudio Shala scored his second goal of the game, this one assisted by Kevin Romero (El Salvador), and pushed the Panthers lead to 3-1. The Vikings answered once again with the second goal of the game for Andre Fonseca and cut the lead to 3-2. Anton Wesener pushed the lead to two goals once again for the Panthers as he scored from a set piece just outside the box in the 72nd minute. The Vikings weren't quite ready to give up yet as Eddy Sernawas able to score his first goal of the season in the 79th minute and once again trim the lead to one goal making it 4-3. The Panthers, who were celebrating sophomore day, were determined to prevail as Anton Wesener was able to score the last match of the game on a header off a corner kick from Klaudio Shala pushing the lead to 5-3 in the 85th minute.
