New York, New York - Panthers fall just short of capturing their 1st Region Championship in Men's Volleyball. For the 2nd consecutive season, the Panthers qualified for the Region XV Men's Volleyball Semi-Finals. After falling in the semi-finals during the inaugural championship in 2024, the Panthers were looking to reach new heights.
Led by 1st year Head Coach Vaughn Titus, the Panthers qualified for the semi-finals as the #3 seed and would have to face #2 Monroe Universtiy Mustangs. During the regular season, the Mustangs defeated the Panthers in both matches but with strong play both times, BMCC came into the match with the confidence needed to defeat the Mustangs. Monroe got out to the early lead winning the 1st set by a score of 25-16. The Panthers would not be discouraged as they took the next sets (28-26, 25-23, 25-19) in route to a 3-1 victory over the Mustangs and clinched a spot in the Region XV Championship vs. the Lions of Nassau Community College.
Although the #1 seeded Lions defeated the Panthers 3-0 in route to a region championship, the Panthers Men's Volleyball program has a lot to look forward to, as they finished as the Region XV Men's Volleyball Championship Runner Ups.
Following the match, both
Mansur Lechiev (Republic of Dagestan) & Chong Lin Li (New York, New York) were named to the Region XV All-Tournament Team for their outstanding play in both the semi-finals and finals.
The future is bright for the Panthers!
