After surrendering nine runs in the top of the first to trail 9-0, the Panthers battled back in the bottom of the inning with four runs to cut the deficit to 9-4. After Marino and Roldan got aboard with a walk and a single, Marra grounded into a fielder's choice, scoring Marino on an error by the shortstop to make it 9-1. After Flores drew a walk, Casana ripped a shot to second base that couldn't be handled, reaching on an error and scoring Marra and Flores to make it 9-3. Rodriguez-Reyes would bring home Casana on an RBI single to left field to make it 9-4. Marino couldn't add to the scoring with runners on second and third, making it 9-4 after one.
