New York, New York - Hostos Community College spoiled BMCC men's basketball's home finale on Tuesday night 95-74 at BMCC Gymnasium. The victory improves the Caimans to 14-10 (8-2 CUNYAC), while the loss drops the Panthers to 9-10 (6-3 CUNYAC).
Prior to the opening tip, the BMCC men's basketball program paid tribute to its two graduating sophomores,
Jeremiah Cardi (New York, New York) and
Adewale Fasanmi (Brooklyn, New York),
with a special sophomore night ceremony.
Three Panthers finished the evening in double-figures, led by freshman
Ysaia Marte's (Bronx, New York) team-high fourth 20-point scoring effort with a game-high 23 points.
Marte has scored in double-figures 10 straight times dating back to 2022 and has eight in all of BMCC's contests during the 2023 calendar year.
Marte led the Panthers on defense with five steals and tied for another team-best for assists with Cardi with three dimes in the contest.

Jayden Jarrett (Bronx, New York) chipped in with 13 points off the bench, just missing his fourth double-double by one rebound with nine, while
Fasanmi tied a game-best with 11 rebounds and scored 12 points for back-to-back double-doubles and his third of the year.
Eleven different Hostos Community College players recorded a point in the game, with sophomore Marquise Paulin leading the way with a team-high 19 points while dishing out a game-high seven assists. Classmate Tionne Palmer put up a double-double tying a game-best with 11 rebounds and scoring 14 points. Freshman Justice Carrington chipped in with 11, and
Teamo Ebron had 10 off the bench. David Honore helped lead the Caimans on defense with a team-high three steals.
The Panthers head on the road to close out the CUNYAC competition and reach double-digit wins for the first time in two seasons against Bronx Community College on Thursday, February 9, at 7 p.m. at Alumni Gym. For more information, visit the
