BMCC Women's Basketball Defeated By Hostos C.C. At Home In Regular Season Finale

New York, New York – The BMCC women's basketball team was beaten in their home and regular-season finale 88-53 by Hostos Community College in CUNYAC action on Tuesday night at BMCC Gymnasium. The victory improves the Caimans to 15-4 (10-0 CUNYAC), while the loss drops the Panthers to 5-14 (5-5 CUNYAC).
 
Before the opening tip, the program paid tribute to its lone graduating sophomore Alicia Tomby (Berbice, Guyana)with a special sophomore night ceremony.

Freshman Emily Kennedy (Brooklyn, New York) led the Panther's offensive attack with her fourth double-double in her last five games, matching a career-high with 30 points and grabbing a game-high 11 rebounds. Classmate Demaris Andrews (Bayonne, New Jersey) contributed 15 points while tying with Kennedy for a team-best in assists and steals with three.   
 
Underclassman Kayla Rodriguez (Brooklyn, New York) posted a career-best with six points while also snatching five boards.

 All five Hostos Community College starters finished the evening in double figures, led by a game-high 23 points and 11 assists from sophomore Dimon Walker. Classmate Lanasia Drain also put up a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while fellow sophomore Savannah Williams had 16 points. Sophomore Aiyana Hicks and freshman Fatoumata Diaby also had 14 and 13 points, respectively.
 
The Panthers will have a week off before entering as the #2 seed for the 2023 CUNYAC CC Women's Basketball Championship, where they will battle #3 seed Queensborough Community College on Tuesday, February 14 at 6 p.m. from Kingsborough Athletics Gym.
