New York, New York - The BMCC women's volleyball team dropped their regular season finale in four sets on Thursday night to CUNYAC opponent Kingsborough Community College at BMCC Gymnasium. The loss dropped the Panthers to 3-15 (3-5 CUNYAC), while the Wave improved to 7-10 (2-4 CUNYAC) with the victory.
Prior to the opening serve, the BMCC women's volleyball program paid tribute to its two graduating sophomores - Garyana Altidor (Queens, New York) and
Cheyenne Gray-Taitt (Harlem, New York).
The Panther's offense had another strong outing despite the result uncorking 33 kills, which was the second most this season.
Freshman Sarah Sellami (Queens, New York) recorded her second double-digit kill game, her team-leading fifth of the season with a team-high 16 kills and placing a team-high seven service aces.
Sellami also led the Panthers on defense with 20 digs to cap her second double of the season.
Gray-Taitt missed her second straight with nine kills while freshman Silvia Chen (New York, New York) with a team-best sixth double-double, dishing out a team-best 23 assists and handing 10 digs.
Chen also fired six service aces on the evening.
Chen's team-high 291 assists passed Medina Lukolic for seventh most in a single season and passed Iris Miranda for eighth all-time in program history.
Altidor registered 18 digs and put her career total to 248, which moves her into 11th all-time in program history.
The Panthers will close out their season in the 2023 CUNYAC Community College Women's Volleyball Championship, looking to defend their crown as the fourth seed and battle top seed Queensborough Community College in the first semifinal match on Monday, October 23, at 4 p.m. The matchup is a rematch of last year's 2022 CUNYAC Championship.
