Baseball Drops Region 15 Contest At Home To Monroe Express; Dolah Blasts Team Leading Second Home Run Of The Season

Queens, New York – The BMCC Baseball team lost 24-3 in Region 15 action to the Monroe Express Tuesday afternoon at home at Padavan-Preller Complex. Monroe-Bronx improves to 15-18 (8-8 Region XV) while the Panthers fall to 0-17 (0-17 Region XV).

The Express opened the scoring in the top of the first as Juan Jorge led off with a double and Salomon Lluveres drove him in on a sacrifice fly RBI to give the Express a 1-0 lead, and Ernie Farrell would score when Ruben Ogando was hit by a pitch stretching the lead to 2-0. After BMCC went down in order, Monroe-Bronx added another two runs in the top of the second when Alex Gonzalez scored on an error and on an RBI groundout by Jose Arrieta to make it 4-0.

Alexander Miranda (Brooklyn, New York) ripped a leadoff single to right field to start things off for the Panthers in the bottom of the second inning. However, the Panthers could not cash in the inning with Miranda getting caught stealing, and Gerardo Galan Berihuete (Brooklyn, New York) struck out in the same sequence, preventing them from getting on the board.

The Express blew open in the top of the third inning with a 13-run explosion, starting with Gonzalez and Jorge, who recorded RBIs on a single and double to make it 6-0. Joseph Rosario followed up with a two-run double right after to make it 8-0 then Farrell added an RBI double of his own, and Malvin Gutierrez uncorked a two-run shot to left field to make it 12-0. After Ogando scored on an error and the Express capped off the scoring when Jorge, Rosario, and Arrieta recorded RBIs on a triple, single, and a double to make it 17-0 going into the bottom of the third.

The Panthers finally got on the board with three runs in the bottom of the third.  Joshua Ascona (Queens, New York) got aboard to start the inning off when a pitch hit him. Keijiro Fujiwara (Redington, Florida) kept the Panthers alive with a two-out single before Abdel Raheem Dolah (Brooklyn, New York) bought both runners across, ripping a three-run dinger to center field to make it 17-3. The home run was Dolah's team-best second on the season.

The Express would add seven more runs with four in the top of the fourth and three in top of the fifth to take the contest 24-3.

Tyler Cadena got the nod for the Express striking out four and surrendering three runs on three hits with no walks. Pablo Castillo tossed two strikeouts and walked one in two innings of work out of the bullpen.

Richard Suriel (Queens, New York) got the start for the Panthers, allowing four runs on two hits over one and one-third innings with one strikeout, and Miranda and Ascona came out of the bullpen. Miranda went 2.2 innings, giving up 17 runs on 11 hits with a walk, and Ascona allowed three runs on two hits with a walk in one inning of work.

FujiwaraDolah, and Miranda all had one hit each to lead the Panther's offense.
