Garden City, N.Y. | The #2-seed BMCC men's soccer team lost on the road in the 2019 Region XV Championship to #1-seed Nassau Community College, 2-0, on Saturday evening in Garden City, New York. In defeat, the Panthers end the season with a 10-3-2 overall record, while the Lions improve to 18-1 and move on to the NJCAA Men's Soccer National Championship for the second straight season.

Nassau Community College got the board immediately in the first minute when freshman goalkeeper Apelete Amehon (Kara, Togo (West Africa) misplayed a wicked entry pass that went off his gloves and bounced to right on the foot of Jasson Cruz, who buried it in the empty net for the early 1-0 lead. The Lions had many more scoring chances late in the first half, but Amehon made some crucial stops, including a crease to crease denial in the 43rd minute on Region XV Player of the Year, Jean-Paul Rodriguez. Amehon finished the first half with five saves, as BMCC was outshot 12-1 overall but only trailed 1-0 at halftime.

Both teams traded one shot on a goal apiece in the first 15 minutes of the second half, but the keepers turned both aside. The Panther's best chance of the match would come back in 50th minute when a misplayed ball by Nassau goalkeeper Matthew Reynolds off another wild bounce found Seydou Diallo (Brooklyn, New York) foot and was blasted just over the crossbar. The Lions would control the rest of the play outshooting the Panthers 20-5 overall to take the match by a final of 2-0.

Amehon finished the match with nine stops, while Reynolds earned a clean sheet and the victory between pipes.
