New York, NY | Entering Thursday's game against the Suffolk Sharks, Panthers sophomore
Quran Dublin was 16 points away from 1000 career points. Dublin would knock down a free throw early in the second half to become the first BMCC player in the modern era to reach the milestone. The combo guard finished with an impressive 20 points and 8 assists, but the top ranked team in the nation would outlast the Panthers with a final score of 89-82.
The teams were evenly matched with 13 lead changes throughout the contest. After Suffolk pulled ahead by 8 points in the first half, BMCC went on a 9-3 scoring run to enter halftime with a 2 point deficit. Shooting guard
Alex Humphreys came out of halftime firing on all cylinders, the sophomore recorded 18 of his team-high 23 points in the second half. Freshman
Amir Davis provided a spark for the Panthers offense after coming off of the bench, the guard dropped in 17 points to set a new career-high in scoring. The frontcourt duo of
Raybon Fleming and
Ashan Adams combined for 17 points and 16 rebounds with 3 blocks.
BMCC will have a quick turnaround between games as they travel to the Bronx to take on the Hostos Caimans in a matchup between the top two schools in the CUNY Athletic Conference. Tip off for tomorrow's game is set for 2pm.
