Dublin's 24-Point Night Leads BMCC Past Queensborough in CUNYAC Semifinals, 76-69

NEW YORK, N.Y. (Feb. 14, 2018) - Freshman guard Quran Dublin exploded for a game-high 24 points Wednesday night to lift top-seeded Borough of Manhattan Community College to a 76-69 win versus fourth-seeded Queensborough Community College in the semifinals of the 2018 CUNYAC/Army ROTC Community College Men's Basketball Championship.

Dublin shot a sizzling 9-of-18 from the field and 3-of-6 from downtown, in addition to collecting five rebounds, three assists and two steals. Freshman forward Viktor Kovacevic posted a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds. He also swatted away six blocks. Sophomore guard Anthony McClean poured in 17 points and grabbed five rebounds.

Freshman guard Keison McIntosh amassed a team-high 19 points for Queensborough. He made 4-of-8 tries from beyond the arc. Freshman center Chisom Egonu and sophomore guard Joshua Bennett had 17 points and 14 points, respectively. Freshman forward/center Salihoun Toure added 10 points and pulled down 20 rebounds.

Leading 24-20 at the midway point of the first half, BMCC ripped off a 14-5 run in a span of 4:11 to build their largest advantage of the contest at 38-25. McClean buried a trey at the six-minute mark to widen the gap to double digits, while Dublin followed with a lay-up to make it a 13-point game.

However, Queensborough closed out the period on a 12-2 response to cut the deficit to 40-37 at the break. Egonu accounted for eight of the Tigers' 12 points in the outburst.

The Tigers eventually went in front in the second half on an Egonu jumper, but the Panthers answered back and grabbed a seven-point lead (62-55) with 9:50 to go in regulation.

Sophomore guard Lawrence Todman put BMCC in front with a jumper at the 16:12 mark. Dublin capped off the spurt with his first of three trifectas on the evening.

The Panthers never looked back from there, as McClean converted a three-point play with 2:44 remaining to reclaim the double-digit lead for BMCC.

BMCC shot 48.4 percent (30-of-62) from the field in the contest and outrebounded its opposition, 47-41. Queensborough made 37.3 percent (28-of-75) of its field-goal attempts and committed just nine turnovers in the effort.

The Panthers will now host No. 3 seed Kingsborough Community College on Friday (Feb. 16) in the 2018 CUNYAC Community College Men's Basketball Championship at BMCC Gymnasium. Tip-off is set for 8:30 p.m. and all of the action can be seen on Facebook Live.
