Bronx, NY | The men's basketball team entered Saturday with a chance to clinch the top seed in the 2018 CUNYAC Tournament, but first they would need to snap a two game losing skid by beating the Hostos Caimans in their own gym. BMCC managed to hold off a second half comeback to escape with a 95-89 win to remain undefeated in CUNYAC through six conference games this season.
The Panthers were led by freshman
Quran Dublin who exploded for a season-high 36 points by going 13-for-16 from the field including 6-8 from behind the arc. The 6'1 combo guard made his presence felt as he racked up 7 assists and 4 rebounds while pressuring the Caimans' offense to force 4 steals. Freshman shooting guard
Alex Humphreys poured in 5 three pointers and finished the game with 17 points. Panthers' forward
Viktor Kovacevic notched his seventh double-double of the season by recording 10 points and 16 boards. BMCC received contributions from sophomores
Lawrence Todman (11 points, 4 rebounds) and
Anthony McClean (9 points, 4 assists) as well as freshman
Mark Morgan who made the most of his playing time by going 3-3 from the field for 7 points.
With the victory, the Panthers improve their record to 17-5 overall this season and currently sit at 4
th in NJCAA Region 15 with an 11-4 record in the region. They will return to action on Tuesday when they travel to BCC to take on the Bronx Broncos.
