Poughkeepsie, NY | The men's and women's basketball teams were in action on Saturday taking on the Falcons of Dutchess Community College. After the Lady Panthers picked up their 4
th win in a row in a 58-42 victory over the Falcons, the men's team claimed their 12
th consecutive win as they beat Dutchess by a final score of 94-79.
In the first game of the doubleheader, the Lady Panthers were led on offense by sophomore guard
Nikola Zilakova [15 points] and freshman forward
Jessycca Myers [14 points]. Sophomore
Maryam Toure recorded 12 points and 14 rebounds, the Lady Panthers center has recorded a double-double in four of the past five games. With the win, BMCC moves to 11-2 overall and 9-1 in the region with seven games remaining on their schedule.
Freshman
Curtis Smith exploded for 30 points to lead all scorers in the men's game. The Panthers shooting guard went 10 for 16 from the field and dished out 7 assists in his best performance this season.
Viktor Kovacevic recorded a huge double-double with 15 points and 20 rebounds while shooting 67% from the field. Freshman
Alex Humphreys set a new season-high with 22 points after he went 6 for 10 from behind the arc, his teammate
Devin Berrios joined in on the three-point barrage by hitting 4 threes on his way to 17 points. Since their last loss on November 18
th, the Panthers have gone 12-0 while averaging 97.9 points per game. Also during this streak they have showcased their defense, by holding their opponents to under 80 points in eight games in that span.
