New York, NY | The women's basketball team matched up against the Bronx Broncos in BMCC Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon in a CUNYAC showdown. After building up a 20 point lead in the first half, the Lady Panthers eased to a 72-43 victory to improve their record to 8-2 (2-1 in CUNYAC).
Through 10 games this season,
Nikola Zilakova has led the Lady Panthers in scoring with 18.6 points per game, and on Saturday she raised her scoring average yet again by dropping 20 points on BCC.
Jessycca Myers kept the glass clean by recording a game-high 15 rebounds while pouring on 14 points for her first double-double of the season. Lady Panthers' center
Maryam Toure had a double-double of her own in points [10] and rebounds [14] in just 21 minutes of playing time.
Karina Ortega had a well-rounded performance with 13 points to go along with 6 rebounds and 6 assists, while her teammate
Ayanna Graham tallied 6 points, 5 boards, and 3 steals.
BMCC will have a week to rest before returning to action on Saturday to face the Schenectady Royals in the final game before the end of the semester. Tip-off is set for 1pm.
