New York, NY | On Tuesday night BMCC squared off against the Lions of Nassau County in a Region XV showdown. In their first matchup this season, the Lady Panthers knocked off the Lions in Nassau by 28 points and would be looking for a similar result in front of the home crowd. BMCC rolled to their fifth straight win with a 72-54 victory behind a 29 point performance from freshman
Natalija Dubrovina.
In the first half, BMCC built a 6 point lead by holding the Lions to 25% shooting from the field. They continued to pile on points in the second half, outscoring Nassau 20-11 in the third quarter and keeping the pressure on in the fourth to come away with their 12
th win of the season.
Dubrovina went 12-of-24 from the field on her way to 29 points, while adding on 7 rebounds and 3 assists in her breakout performance for the Lady Panthers. Team captain
Ashley Brooks filled up the stat sheet with 20 points, 22 rebounds and 4 blocks to earn her tenth double-double this season.
Nikola Zilakova continued her hot streak with 10 points and 7 assists, the Lady Panthers point guard has scored 10+ points for four consecutive games.
BMCC will have a day to rest before they return to action on Thursday when they match up against Suffolk County Community College. Tipoff is set for 6pm in BMCC gymnasium.
