Brooklyn, NY | Both Panther soccer teams traveled to Brooklyn on Saturday to take on their CUNYAC opponent, the Kingsborough Wave. The men's team began the day with a 4-1 win in a chippy contest between the rivals, then the women followed up with a 3-0 victory of their own.
In the opening match it did not take long for the Panthers to get on the board, with an early foul leading to a successful
Dazougou Pacode penalty kick. The Wave would tie the score before the halftime whistle, but it would be all BMCC in the second half, with
Marcus Folkes,
Aboubacar Keita and
Guillermo Aguilar finding the back of the net.
The women's team picked up where the men's team left off as they managed to control the game from start to finish.
Yvonne Zapata opened up the scoring for the Lady Panthers by ripping a shot off of a stellar pass from
Lisset Guerrero, BMCC would go on to score their next two goals on free kicks taken by Guerrero. With steady defending and several saves from Lady Panthers goalkeeper
Dashka Fonrose, BMCC finished with their second shutout victory of the season.
BMCC soccer will be back in action on Monday when the Lady Panthers take on the Mustangs of Monroe College at Pier 40.
