Cranford, NJÂ |Â Coming off a long offseason, the Panthers kicked off their 2016 campaign on the road against the Owls of Union County. Following a 2015 season that ended with a loss in the CUNYAC championship, the Panthers will have a lot to prove as they begin the new year.Â
Squaring off against a non-region opponent in their opener, BMCC soccer went down by a goal early before
Aboubacar Keita tied the game with a goal of his own. The Panthers jumped out to a lead in the second half when sophomore
Adama Coulibaly scored off the assist from Mamadou Touray. The Owls went on to score two consecutive goals before Touray found the back of the net with a goal of his own on a free kick. After a string of impressive saves from freshman keeper
Dhondup Tharchen, the Panthers brought the game to overtime, but would ultimately lose by a final score of 4-3.
The Panthers will be back in action on Thursday when they take on the reigning CUNY Champions, the Queensborough Tigers. That game is set to kick of at 4pm in Queens. Stay tuned for updates on today's game.
