Valhalla, NY Â
|Â Strong defense was not enough as the Panthers dropped their season opener to the Westchester Vikings. Despite only committing one error, the Panthers suffered a lopsided loss after being outhit by their Division II opponent.
Though the Westchester pitching stymied BMCC for most of the game, the Panthers finally broke through when
Nathaniel Rivera ripped a line drive up the middle for the team's first hit. In the final inning,
Geovany Henriquez waited for his pitch and drove it deep into right field for a double. The freshman reached third on a wild pitch, but would remain 90 feet from home as the next batter retired the side.
After a tough first outing, the Panthers will look to rebound in their next matchup on Friday against Globe IT. First pitch is set for 2 pm.
