New York, NY Â
|Â After going 2-2 on the road to start their season, the Lady Panthers returned to Pier 40 for their home opener on Monday afternoon. BMCC had a tough test as they faced off against the FIT, though the Panthers controlled possession for much of the game, the Tigers made the most of their limited opportunities and walked away with a 2-0 victory.
From the opening whistle the match was a heavily defensive battle, with neither side able to get quality shots on goal. It was not until nearly the 30
th minute when FIT finally managed to break through the stiff BMCC defense and score on a breakaway goal. In the second half, the Lady Panthers continued to hold their own against an up-tempo Tigers offense, but another breakaway goal would seal the deal for FIT, and BMCC would fall to 2-3.
The women's soccer team will shift their focus to their next match on Thursday when they will travel to Garden City to take on one of the top teams in the nation, the Nassau Lions. This match is set to kick off at 4 pm.
