New York, NY | The stage was set Tuesday night for a rematch between the Lady Panthers and their CUNYAC rivals, the Kingsborough Wave. BMCC was looking for the season sweep after beating Kingsborough in their first meeting. The Lady Panthers jumped out to an early lead and kept their foot on the gas the entire second half. Behind a strong performance from
Ashley Brooks (23 points, 20 rebounds), the Panthers cruised to a 60-40 win over their conference opponent.
Brooks was one of three Lady Panthers to reach double-digit scoring figures tonight, with
Ashley Duplan (17 points) and
Kiara Atkins (14 points) getting in on the action. Duplan finished the game shooting 46% from the field, including 5-8 from behind the arc for her most impressive game of the season.
Defensively, BMCC held the Wave to just 27.1% from the field, while forcing 14 turnovers. The Lady Panthers will look to continue dominating on both sides of the ball as they make a push for the playoffs. They will be back in action on Thursday when they travel to Rockland to face the Hawks. In their previous meeting, BMCC came away with a 69-53 victory.
