The Borough of Manhattan Community College men's baseball (1-4, 1-2 CUNYAC) team earned its first win of the 2015 season in the first part of a doubleheader with Queensborough Community College (3-2, 2-1 CUNYAC) at Padavan-Preller Complex in Bellerose, NY on Saturday afternoon.

After claiming the 12-7 win in the opener, the Panthers dropped the second game to the Tigers by the score of 13-0.

Sophomore pitcher Gerson Perez earned the win in his first start of the season in game one, pitching six of seven innings. The Bronx native threw five strikeouts and held the Tigers scoreless through the game's first four innings.

Third baseman Mario Padron knocked in two runs in his first at-bat in the first inning to give the Panthers the early two-run lead. Reginald German would increase the lead to three runs with a solo homerun in BMCC's first at-bat of the second inning. Padron would bring in a another run courtesy of an RBI single later in the inning.

After carrying a 5-1 lead into the sixth, Padron would record his fourth RBI of the game when he brought Ramon Nunez home off a single. Catcher Wilson Aristy would follow Padron with an RBI single of his own. First baseman Dimitri Madera increased the lead with an RBI double later in the inning to put the Panthers up 11-1.

After a four-run sixth for Queensborough the Panthers were left to defend their lead heading into the seventh. Padron would advance home to off a pass ball to increase BMCC's lead to 12-5 before the Tigers rallied for two more runs in the bottom of the seventh. But in the end it was a 12-7 victory for the Panthers.

The second game saw the fortunes reversed, as the Tigers cruised to a 13-0 victory after scoring nine runs through the first two innings. Padron earned the loss in his first start of the season, and he, Aristy, Madera and shortstop Miguel Salas all picked up hits in the loss.
