New York, NY Â |Â Playing in front of the home crowd on Saturday, the Panthers were looking to continue their win streak as they faced off against the Nassau Lions.
Both teams battled back and forth for much of the first half, with the Lions taking a 32-30 lead into the locker room at halftime. The Panthers went on a 20-9 run in the second half before the Lions came storming back. In the final minute of play, the Panthers held a slim 78-77 lead. A steal on a fast break by
Joshua Armstrong followed by two free throws from
Jamel Harris was just enough for BMCC to hold off Nassau and win their third consecutive game.
In the 81-79 win,
Kenneth Coar finished the game with 17 points and 14 rebounds, the reigning All-American now has five double-doubles on the season. Including Coar, five Panthers finished the game in double digits in scoring, with
Matthew Boyd (17) ,
Jamel Harris (15),
Joshua Armstrong (14), and
Brandon Williams (11), leading the way on offense.
After winning three straight, the Men's Basketball team will return to action on Tuesday night when they take on the Queensborough Tigers in the Homecoming Game. Tip-off will follow the final whistle of the women's game.
