Westchester, NY Â |Â The men's soccer team did not advance past the first round of the Region XV tournament as they fell to the Westchester Vikings 5-3 on Saturday.
The team entered halftime tied 3-3, with goals coming from
Peter Ceesay,
Serigne Kasse, and
Abdoulaye Gueye. But the Vikings continued to dominate on offense, scoring two unanswered goals in the second half to knock the Panthers out of the playoffs.
Despite the recent losses, this has been a remarkable season for the Panthers. The team jumped out to a 7-0 start, during this stretch they outscored their opponents 45-4. BMCC players were honored with numerous awards throughout the season, including 4 CUNYAC Player of the Week awards. The team's leading scorer (11 goals on the season)
Serigne Kasse, was named Region XV Player of the Month. Second-year defender
Christian Pacode earned CUNYAC Student-Athlete of the Month. These are just a few of the awards given to the men's soccer team, and with the end-of-season awards being announced by the conference and region later this week, many more are sure to come.
