Women’s Volleyball Weekend Round-Up

The Lady Panthers posted a 1-3 record in two double-duel afternoons

NEW YORK, NY| The Borough of Manhattan Community College women's volleyball team posted a 1-3 record across four games on Saturday and Sunday this past weekend. The Lady Panthers lost to Orange County College (3-0), but defeated Sullivan County Community College (3-1) on Saturday in Loch Sheldrake, NY. On Sunday BMCC lost both matches to Dutchess Community College (3-2) and Ulster County Community College (3-0) in Stone Ridge, NY. After this weekend's results, the Lady Panthers fall to 4-11 on the season.

Johanna Castro and Tania Mejia each had a team-high four kills in BMCC's 25-13, 25-16, 25-14 loss to Orange, while Alioscak Adames led her side in assists (11). Castro also dug out 13 balls.

Mejia and Castro again led the Lady Panthers in Saturday's second match—a 3-2 victorty—with the former recording a season-high 11 kills while Castro dug out 11. Adames recorded a season-high 15 assists and added three aces.

Castro racked up eight kills in Sunday's first match against Dutchess, while Mejia served up a season- and game-high 10 aces and five blocks. Kaina Bazard's 17 assists were the second-highest total for her this season.

Ulster swept BMCC in the weekend's final match (25-15, 25-14, 25-10). Jennifer Santos had three kills, Kimberly Mejia dug out six and Bazard assisted 11 times.

Up next for the Lady Panthers are Nassau Community College and Suffolk County Community College, who BMCC will play host to on Saturday, October 18 inside BMCC Gym. The Nassau match is set for a 12 PM start, with the Suffolk match is slated for 1:15 PM.
