The BMCC Panthers baseball team lost 12-2 in 5 innings to the visiting Suffolk Sharks Friday afternoon. After scoring 29 runs in their previous 3 games, the Panthers bats fell silent, the team managed only three hits, while striking out 11 times.
The Panthers showed some fight in the 4th inning, when down 11-0 they managed to scratch across two runs which would have prolonged the game. Shortstop
Daniel Mota led off the 4
th with a single and then stole 2
nd followed by
Rodney Newell's walk. Mota then stole 3
rd and scored when strike three on
Adrian Rodriguez got past the Sharks catcher. Newell stole 2
nd and then scored when
Ariel Torres laced a first pitch fastball for a base hit scoring Newell to make it 11-2.
But in the top of the 5th, the Sharks got a double and a single to retake a 10 run lead and the Panthers couldn't score in the bottom of the inning to prolong the game.
The Panthers and Sharks play a double-header tomorrow with the first game at 12PM, at Suffolk Community College.
In the double-header played Saturday afternoon at Suffolk, the Panthers lost both games, 17-3 and 15-6.
