Game Recap: Baseball |

Panthers Bats Go Silent

The BMCC Panthers baseball team lost 12-2 in 5 innings to the visiting Suffolk Sharks Friday afternoon. After scoring 29 runs in their previous 3 games, the Panthers bats fell silent, the team managed only three hits, while striking out 11 times.

The Panthers showed some fight in the 4th inning, when down 11-0 they managed to scratch across two runs which would have prolonged the game. Shortstop Daniel Mota led off the 4th with a single and then stole 2nd followed by Rodney Newell's walk. Mota then stole 3rd and scored when strike three on Adrian Rodriguez got past the Sharks catcher. Newell stole 2nd and then scored when Ariel Torres laced a first pitch fastball for a base hit scoring Newell to make it 11-2.

But in the top of the 5th, the Sharks got a double and a single to retake a 10 run lead and the Panthers couldn't score in the bottom of the inning to prolong the game.

The Panthers and Sharks play a double-header tomorrow with the first game at 12PM, at Suffolk Community College.

In the double-header played Saturday afternoon at Suffolk, the Panthers lost both games, 17-3 and 15-6.
