New York, N.Y. - The BMCC Panthers took on the LaGuardia Red Hawks Thursday night in the CUNYAC opener for both teams. The Red Hawks won 99-67, on Homecoming night for the Panthers.
With an electric crowd on hand, the Red Hawks opened the game with a 23-0 run and never looked back. They were led by Jermaine Anthony who finished with a game high 34 points. David Noel contributed 14 points and 10 rebounds.
After surviving the initial Red Hawk blitz, the Panthers were able to find some offense.
Brandon Herriot scored 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds. The sophomore continued his hot shooting from 3-point land, going 3/5 from behind the arc.
Joseph Ojo continued his aggressive play too, getting to the foul line 15 times. Before fouling out, Ojo finished the game with 15 points and five assists.
Hasan Mati also scored in double figures with 11 points and the sophomore guard grabbed five rebounds.
The Panthers drop to 1-1 on the season. They return to action Saturday November 9 at 12:30 when they take on Region XV opponent SUNY Ulster.
