New York, NY | The women's basketball team had a lot to prove when they took on the Bronx in front of a lively BMCC crowd. In their previous matchup this season, the Lady Panthers were unable to get it going offensively resulting in a 64-42 victory by the Broncos. BMCC was able to return the favor on Tuesday night when they picked apart the defense and held the Broncos to 12 of 59 (.203) shooting from the floor on their way to a 69-36 blowout over their CUNYAC foe.
Freshman standout
Karina Ortega led the charge for the Lady Panthers, the shooting guard went 7-for-10 from the floor for a game-high 16 points.
Ashley Brooks picked up another double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds to go along with her 2 blocks on the night.
Natalija Dubrovina scored 13 points and
Nikola Zilakova had 9 to go along with 7 assists.
Following the win, the Lady Panthers now sit comfortably in the #3 spot in Region XV and #2 in the CUNYAC with a 13-4 record. With a spot in the postseason locked up, BMCC will turn their attention to their next matchup against a tough Sullivan County Generals team currently ranked 6
th in the nation. The Lady Panthers will square off against the Generals at BMCC on Saturday at 1pm.
